Vintage 1950s De Weese black lace illusion swimsuit and cover up blouse with rhinestones

Genuine vintage 1950s De Weese brand swimsuit and matching cover up blouse top in a good size. Both have black lace laid over a beige coloured lining to give a ‘nude’ effect

The swimsuit is immaculate - looks unworn. There are no marks or damage and no signs of wear.
This would have been a luxury item back in the 50s
Appliquéd hibiscus flowers cut from the lace decorate the front upper edge - each with a rhinestone centre
The elastic shirring at the back is good.
The front has ruched and shaped panels - photo is included of inside views of both front and back
The shoulder straps are fixed inside the back and have small cloth slots to slide into at the front - or tuck them inside and go strapless
Both front and back have sparkling rhinestones attached
Side bodice boning gives support to the bra section

The swimsuit is marked a size 16/38 and would fit a size L/XL
Bust 38 to 42 inches
Waist 32 to 35 inches
Hips 40 to 43 inches
Leg opening 24 to 28 inches
Top of bodice to gusset taken straight down the centre 22 to 25 inches
It does stretch more than these given measurements but it does need to be pulled on

The cover up blouse/ top has been used. It feels less ‘firm’ than the swimsuit. It is in very good condition with no issues.

Stiffened pads inside the upper sleeves to make them stand out
Elbow length sleeves, gathered onto an elasticated cuff

Its rare to find this swimsuit, even rarer to find it in such amazing condition, and even more rare to find the matching cover up with it
